Japanese Inspired screen doors

for - Can’t Break Your Hip House, Blue Mountains, NSW
  • Builder - Owen Kelly, Michael Hoffman, Bobbie Bayley

  • Size - 3 x sets of doors, each door approx 2.5m x 2.5m

Hand-made by us, the beautiful sliding fabric doors are a Japanese and Bojagi-inspired technique. These doors to the main bedroom of the house are made from possibly the only 100% Australian Cotton supplier, grown and manufactured in Australia. The coloured sections are linen and cotton fabric offcuts and are looped over a timber batten which is tensioned via a bolt and threaded hole in the steel and timber door frames.

A light-filtering door was an important addition to allow the north-facing hallway to share light and width with the south-facing bedroom.
